In the early 90s of the last century, a bombshell was dropped on the world, causing a huge shock - the once socialist power Yugoslavia was divided into six new countries: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.

The root cause of Yugoslavia's repeated destruction is that after the end of the Cold War, the United States began to regard it as a hidden danger and exert all-round pressure on it. At the same time, the long-suppressed ethnic contradictions and religious differences within the country erupted at this time, intensifying the trend of separatism.

In this way, this giant of socialism, which had developed vigorously under the leadership of Tito and had a prosperous life for the people, went to the fate of being torn apart. Then, the development paths of the six sons of Yugoslavia were very different:

Slovenia and Croatia have developed most smoothly, joining the ranks of the European Union and NATO, and becoming developed countries.

The former is based on high-tech and tourism; The latter has a long coastline and thriving transport and tourism. In 2022, both countries have a GDP and a per capita income of more than 10,000 euros, and they live in abundance.

Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia are relatively backward in development and have a weak industrial base, so they can only be regarded as developing countries.

In 2022, the GDP of Bosnia and Herzegovina was US$24.5 billion, with an average of US$7,100 per capita; North Macedonia's GDP is only 12.5 billion euros, or 6,000 euros per capita.

Although Montenegro's GDP is only more than 50 billion euros, it has developed social welfare, balanced wealth distribution, and a good living standard of the people, with a per capita income of about 8,000 euros.

The most noteworthy is Serbia, as the main country of Yugoslavia, which took off at the end of the last century and developed rapidly.

Although it has been classified as a developed country in the past two years, the actual level of development still needs to be improved. In 2022, the GDP will be 60.4 billion euros, with an average of 8,900 euros per capita, and the development potential is still promising.

From this point of view, it is true that Yugoslavia, once a big socialist country, has collapsed due to the torrent of the times and internal contradictions, but its six sons have made their own achievements in the new century and have written their own chapter of development. Some are among the developed, and some are still catching up. Perhaps the biggest revelation of this bloody history is that any country should keep pace with the times, open up and reform in order to maintain its vitality forever.
