Unexpectedly, because the interior decoration of the restaurant was not completed, Shen Xuhua strayed into an unclosed fire escape and fell from the fourth floor.

The bad news spreads in the restaurant, and everyone is awakened by a burst of exclamations. I saw a young woman lying in the restaurant covered in blood, her head hitting the ground first, already dying. Everyone was stunned by the tragic situation in front of them, and the scene was shocked. Thankfully, someone remained calm and immediately called the police and called an ambulance.

Shen Xuhua, who was sent to the hospital, suffered a severe fracture and cerebral hemorrhage, and his life hung by a thread. The doctors rescued her overnight, and finally passed the most critical moment. Unexpectedly, in the days that followed, Shen Xuhua seemed to fall into a boundless sea of suffering.

Due to being in a semi-coma for a long time, she was forced to undergo surgery again and again, and tasted the most painful torture in the world. In the huge ward, all you could hear was the constant wailing, the terrifying sound of blood and instruments. Family members and colleagues waited as the petite young woman was physically and mentally exhausted and helpless.

In this way, Shen Xuhua suffered in the ward for 19 days. During this period, her husband Yu Jianhua never left the ward, waiting in front of his wife's hospital bed day and night, witnessing the tragic situation of his wife being tortured, his heart was like a knife. After the audience learned the news, they also waited at the door of the TV station and prayed for the most beautiful host in their hearts.

The curtain finally fell. In the early morning of August 20, 2002, Shen Xuhua died at the age of 33 due to the inability to withstand the continuous cerebral hemorrhage. A generation of beautiful host stars passed away in this way, leaving countless people in tears and deep mourning.

Shen Xuhua's death is undoubtedly a huge tragedy, and she could have left more wonderful moments on the stage hosted by CCTV. After the tragedy, Yu Jianhua was deeply affected and almost collapsed. After some time, he finally came to his senses and was determined to get justice for his wife.

Get justice for your wife

Yu Jianhua first sued the owner of the restaurant. He believes that the restaurant's failure to comply with construction safety regulations and properly seal the fire escape led to his wife's misfortune. However, after investigation, the court did not fully support Yu Jianhua's claim, and only ordered the restaurant to pay more than 380,000 yuan in compensation for moral damages.

Yu Jianhua is undoubtedly deeply dissatisfied with the court's decision. In his opinion, this money alone is far from enough to make up for the loss of his wife's young life. So, he resolutely pointed the finger at the Beijing Fire Bureau.

Yu Jianhua's allegation is that the fire department failed to fulfill its duty of review and supervision during the renovation of the restaurant, and failed to detect serious access violations in the restaurant, which led to the tragedy. Although the fire department has repeatedly exonerated itself, Yu Jianhua has conclusive evidence in hand.

This time, after years of litigation, Yu Jianhua finally won the court's affirmation. In 2007, the court issued a final judgment finding that the Beijing Fire Bureau was primarily responsible for the accident and ordered it to compensate Shen Xuhua's family 387639 yuan.

For Yu Jianhua, although the amount of compensation is expensive, his wife's life and health are his biggest concern. However, through this lawsuit, the fire department and related personnel have also been duly punished, sounding the alarm for the safety problem in the restaurant renovation.

After Shen Xuhua's death, audiences across the country mourned. In that year, CCTV held a memorial service for her, and played the video of the classic program she hosted during her lifetime in prime time to pay tribute to this beautiful host in her prime.
