IT Home reported on March 29 that Microsoft today released the Windows 11 Build 26090 preview update for members of the Windows Insider project in the Canary and Dev channels.
Canary switches to the Dev channel
At this stage, Canary and Dev channel users receive the same Windows 11 Preview builds, and at this stage Canary channel users can switch to downgrade to the Dev channel.
In the near future, the Canary channel will jump to a higher version number and the window will close, so users who need to jump to it will choose as soon as possible.
IT Home attaches the Windows 11 Build 26090 preview new features, improvements and the following:
Improvements to the widget panel
Microsoft initially invited Windows Insiders from the Canary channel to test the new widget panel in Windows 11 Build 26058 Preview.
These improvements include the introduction of a new navigation bar on the left side, making it easy for users to switch between dedicated widget panels and other integrated panels such as Discover.
Further tweaking of the SMB protocol
Microsoft has started the preview of Build 26085 with tweaks to the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol, introducing QUIC, signing, encryption, and more. The new preview further tweaks the SMB protocol with the following key features:
Disable the SMB over QUIC client
Administrators can disable the SMB over QUIC client via Group Policy or PowerShell.
PowerShell 方案:
Set-SmbClientConfiguration -EnableSMBQUIC $false
Group Policy scenarios
Using GPMC. MSC or GPEDIT. MSC configures the following settings:
Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Network \ Lanman Workstation \ Enable SMB over QUIC
SMB over QUIC client 连接审计
SMB over QUIC client connection success events are now written to the event log, and you can use the following path to EVENTVWR. MSC looks at these events:
Applications and Services Logs \ Microsoft \ Windows\ SMBClient \ Connectivity (Event ID 30832)
SMB Signing & Encryption Auditing:
Administrators can now enable auditing of SMB signing and encryption support for SMB servers and clients. This will show you if the third-party client or server doesn't support SMB encryption or signing. You can configure these settings using PowerShell and Group Policy. To configure SMB client or server signing or encryption auditing using Group Policy, use GPMC. MSC or GPEDIT. MSC configures the following settings:
-
Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Network \ Lanman Workstation \ Audit server does not support encryption Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Network \ Lanman Workstation \ Audit server does not support signing Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Network \ Lanman Server \ Audit client does not support encryption Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Network \ Lanman Server \ Audit client does not support signing
To disable SMB over QUIC using PowerShell, run the following command from the administrator permissions command line:
-
Set-SmbClientConfiguration -AuditServerDoesNotSupportEncryption $true Set-SmbClientConfiguration -AuditServerDoesNotSupportSigning $true Set-SmbServerConfiguration -AuditClientDoesNotSupportEncryption $true Set-SmbServerConfiguration -AuditClientDoesNotSupportSigning $true
USERS CAN ALSO USE EVENTVWR. MSC looks at these events:
-
Applications and Services Logs \ Microsoft \ Windows\ SMBClient \ Audit (Event ID 31998 and Event ID 31999) Applications and Services Logs \ Microsoft \ Windows\ SMBServer \ Audit (Event ID 3021 and Event ID 3022)

[General]
The watermark does not appear in the bottom right corner of this preview and will be restored in a subsequent preview.
It's part of our normal process as we prepare to release Windows 11, version 24H2 to customers later this year, but that doesn't mean we're done.
[Copilot]
After logging in to Windows with a local account, users can communicate with Copilot 10 times, and if users want to communicate further, they need to log in to a Microsoft account or Microsoft Entra ID account.
