According to Counterpoint Research, the reason why smartphone shipments are expected to rebound and increase is that the market is expected to perform well in the $150 to $249 and $600 to $799 price ranges in 2024.

According to Counterpoint Research, the lower end of the $150 segment is expected to decline by 4% year-on-year, and in the $150 to $249 segment, it is expected to see an 11% increase due to fierce competition from companies such as OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi and Transsion Holdings in India, the Caribbean and Latin America.

The $250 to $599 segment is expected to exceed $800, but the $600 to $799 segment is expected to increase by 17% year-on-year. Counterpoint Research believes that the growth of high-end phones is mainly spurred by the popularity of next-generation AI phones and foldable phones.

At the premium end of the price segment, Huawei and Apple are expected to be the leaders in this segment. Although the iPhone is becoming less popular in the Chinese mainland market, it has achieved steady growth in the emerging Indian and Caribbean markets, which will help Apple continue to dominate other mobile phone manufacturers in the global market.

With the release of the Huawei Mate 60 series, Huawei will gradually establish its leading position in the Chinese mainland market, even if Huawei cannot return to its peak in overseas markets, but the huge Chinese market is enough to support Huawei's sales in the high-end mobile phone market.

Finally, Counterpoint Research also mentioned that the smartphone market has bottomed out in the long run. Even with a more optimistic attitude, global smartphone shipments will only maintain a low-single-digit year-on-year growth.
