The traditional Korean folk game "Throwing Chess" will be applied to become an official event of the World Health Games
On April 26, a demonstration of traditional folk games was held in Nahyeon-ri, Hongseong-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea (known locally as Turtle Village) with the aim of starting to apply for the official competition of the World Health Games.
The traditional folk game held this time has no Chinese name, and the Korean name is "You Nuoli", which can be translated as: "Throwing 柶", English Yunnori. The ancestors of the Korean Peninsula used the method of divination in the hope of a good harvest in the coming year, which gradually evolved into a popular game.
The throwing device is simple, consisting of a chessboard (also called a horse field), dice (4 half-round blocks) and chess pieces. The number of participants in the game at the same time is 2 or more, and it is divided into two groups, A and B. Each group takes turns throwing four wooden blocks in a counterclockwise direction in a numbered order, and each group places four chess pieces on the "horse field" according to the score obtained by the throw, and runs from the starting point to the finish line. The group that finishes first on the board wins.
The rules of the game are simple and easy to learn, and they are fair, open and just. The key skill lies in the combination of chess pieces and the permutation and combination of the placement points, which requires a certain strategy and tactics, and the game process is full of ups and downs, full of suspense, and is a three-in-one project of mass cultural and sports games that integrates fun and competitiveness, and is suitable for all ages. It is said that the game has a history of more than 2,000 years and is generally held from the first day of the first lunar month to the Lantern Festival. Nowadays, the game of "Throwing Pigs" is also often held at the usual meeting places.
Mr. Zhang Shihuan, the special envoy of the 13th World Health Forum Expo and the 4th World Health Games (Chairman: Guo Zhouli) in South Korea, reached a consensus with local government departments and civil society organizations, and planned and implemented on-site demonstration activities in accordance with the application process of the competition.
Chairperson Lee Sun-kyun of the Hongsung County Assembly (equivalent to the chairman of the prefectural people's congress in China), member Lee Jung-hee (equivalent to a member of the prefectural people's congress in China), and Lee Ki-tae, chief of the Kamgo-myeon Committee (equivalent to the mayor of a town in China), Tian Byung-hee, chairman of the Turtle Village Development Committee, Dr. Cho Seon-yu, professor of Gongju National University, Dr. Lee Sang-hyun, professor of Chung-Hyun University, writer of best-selling books on the Three Kingdoms of the Three Kingdoms and many humanities, and the Federation of Korean Compatriots (President: Kim Sook-ja) and the Kenaf Industry Group (President: Lim Hee-gung) Representatives of other institutions and enterprises, as well as more than 30 villagers from Turtle Village participated in the demonstration activity.
In order to highlight the scene and competitive effect of the game, it was the first to replace the chess pieces with the elderly and disabled people in wheelchairs as riders, and the good results exceeded expectations. The competition consists of 1 commander, 1 referee, 1 player and 4 riders in each of the two groups of A and B, a total of 8 people, and the rest of the team participates as cheerleaders and spectators.
In the next step, in order to apply for the Korean folk traditional game "Throwing Chess" to become an official competition event of the World Health Games, the Korean side will form a regular team of players, further optimize and standardize the rules of the competition, and submit a formal written application.
