Where is this? Why did people suddenly like it?
This is the ancient town of Lin'an River Bridge.
Driving from Hangzhou Wulin Square, all the way to the expressway and highway, you can reach here in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
This is already a border town in western Zhejiang, and a little further on, it will be in Anhui. It is precisely because of this that it is different from other ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River in Hangzhou, and the style here is a combination of the Jiangnan and Hui schools.

The sound of the water is rapid, but from the moment I arrived at Heqiao Ancient Town, the biggest feeling was "slow".

The length of Heqiao Old Street is about 1,500 meters, and there are three "gates", at the west end of the old street, there is also the gatehouse of "Tangchang Shouzhen".
This kind of gatehouse is more like a street pavilion, but the people of Heqiao are still willing to call it "city gate". In the past, the passage under the "city gate" was "wide enough for carriage and horses", and the gate with heavy iron rings was "invulnerable to knives and arrows". The gate will be closed at night, if there are people from the village returning at night, you can call or knock on the door with an iron ring, and the doorman will confirm that it is the village that will open the door.

The old street is about 5 meters wide and is paved with bluestone slabs and pebbles. After so many years, the slate has been stepped out of the "pulp", and the oil is shiny, because there is a "Taiping ditch", the old street does not accumulate water after the rain, and there is reflection at night.
"Taipinggou" is under the stone slab, every few tens of meters, there will be an opening, and communicate with the patio door of the large family, can inject live water into the fish pond at home. Once upon a time, children could find copper coins, jade beads, silver chains, hairpins, broken rings, and iron buckles from the mud and sand at the bottom of the ditch......
Some old people said that this ditch is the dragon vein of the ancient town. In case of fire, it is the source of fire water, and in the event of a flash flood, it can be discharged here.

There are more than 100 ancient houses in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China on both sides of the old street, most of which are in the Hui architectural style.
There are time-honored buildings such as Jishantang, Yutongfeng, Xu Yilong, Chai Zhizhen, etc., as well as historical buildings such as Qianzhuang, Qinglou, Boat Gang, and Pai Shed, which are on both sides of this not long old street.
On both sides of Heqiao Old Street, there are also many alleys. There are fewer people coming and going, and time seems to stand still here.
In the middle of the old street, there is a wooden bridge called "Baixia Wooden Bridge", which leads to the opposite bank.
It is said to be a wooden bridge, but it can also be called a bench bridge. It is made of several stakes and planks and is about 80 meters long.
The wooden planks are connected by iron chains, the reason is that "in spring and summer, floods often wash away wooden bridges, but because of the iron chain strings, the wooden bridges will only be separated in the middle and float on both sides of the river, and will not be swept away by the flood, and after the flood, they will be re-erected and rebuilt."
This clear stream, which seems calm now, washes away the wooden bridge over the river during the flash flood season, and for this reason, it can be seen in the pictures that the buildings on both sides are much higher than the river.
People in the village say that even if it is so high, it will be flooded during the flood season.
Not far from the ancient town of Heqiao, it is the blooming period of thousands of acres of rape flowers.

According to legend, Heqiao is the hometown of He Xiangu, one of the Eight Immortals, who was born in Heqiao Qidu Biwu Village, where the villagers are all surnamed He.
He Xiangu's parents were farmers and worked for rich and noble families all year round. When He Xiangu was born, the house was full of brilliance, and the house was full of energy, which was extraordinary, and relatives, friends, and neighbors came to congratulate her.
He Xiangu is not only beautiful but also hardworking, and she knows how to share her parents' worries when she is young. At the age of twelve or thirteen, he went up the mountain to chop wood, and happened to meet three immortals, Lu Dongbin, Zhang Guolao, and Tie Guan Li, who traveled all over the world. When the immortals saw that she was beautiful, they gave her fairy peaches, fairy dates, and mica powder to eat. After He Xiangu ate it, she felt that she was not hungry and could predict the future, knowing the blessings and misfortunes of people. Her parents were very surprised to see that she was often walking outside like a fly, coming and going without a trace, and asked what she was doing. Since then, he often picks wild fruits and goes home to serve his parents.
One day, Changhua County ordered to sell famine in Changnan, He Xiangu also crowded in the crowd to watch the excitement, everyone found that Xiangu was shining and shining in the landscape, and they all screamed. He Xiangu hurriedly waded through Shuangxi, pressed the colorful clouds, and drove the clouds away, and the crowd was surprised. The county order reported the matter to the emperor, and when Wu Zetian was in the dynasty and called the emperor, he ordered He Xiangu to enter the palace. He Xiangu received the edict, when she was close to the capital Luoyang, she did not enter the palace and disappeared without a trace, and the villagers knew that she had become an immortal, so they built a fairy temple in Heqiao Qidu Biwu Village to commemorate her.
